User Information

If you intend to visit the Chelmer & Blackwater Canal from the sea we hope you find the following information helpful. Should your require any help before or during your stay we strongly advise you to contact the Lock keeper Colin Edmond.
SEA LOCK HOURS OF OPERATION
The sea lock is available for use on High Waters occurring between 0600 & 2000 hours 1st May to 30th September and 0700 & 1700 hours 1st October to the 30th April. Locking outside these hours must be booked in advance and 24 hours notice is required. The Sea Lock operates from one hour before high water until ½ an hour after high water. In very dry spells these operating times may be reduced. It is therefore advisable to arrive off the lock before high water. The tide times at Maldon which is a few miles down stream from the Sea Lock which is situated at Lat: 51:43:50N Lon: 0:42:35E can be used as a good guide. Admiralty EasyTide has seven day tide predictions for Maldon and other East Cost Ports.
